The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Myanmar protests: Why the next few days are crucial for the country’s future” – below is their description.
Although the protests have been going on for weeks, the next few days will be decisive for the future of Myanmar, according to The Telegraph’s Asia Correspondent Nicola Smith.
The military has resorted to using water cannons, tear gas and live ammunition to hold protesters back during the most violent days of demonstration.
Despite the wide scale of protests in the country and the international attention they’ve amassed, Nicola Smith argues Myanmar’s military doesn’t have “a history of backing down”. Instead, she adds, it has “a history of violently suppressing any kind of pro-democracy movement.”
