At least 12 anti-coup protesters were reportedly killed in violent crackdowns across Myanmar on March 11, 2021. Among the dead was 25-year-old Chit Min Thu who was shot in the head in Yangon’s North Dagon township. His mother and pregnant wife have been mourning the death of their son and husband, who had insisted on joining the protests despite their appeals for him to stay home. Meanwhile, Myanmar’s junta has added new bribery allegations to its charges against deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The United Nations Human Rights Council, which is monitoring the situation, raised the death tally in the anti-coup protests to more than 70 on March 11.
