Myanmar police opened fire on anti-coup protesters on Tuesday in Yangon, according to witnesses, in the latest crackdown in the country.
It comes ahead of talks expected to take place between foreign ministers of neighbouring countries and the military in a bid to end the violence and find a way out of the crisis.
While there were no reports of injuries in Yangon, several people were reportedly injured in the town of Kale when police allegedly fired live ammunition to disperse a crowd, according to a democracy activist and a journalist in the town. Hospitals and police could not be reached for comment and a military spokesman did not answer telephone calls.
