Global News published this video item, entitled “Myanmar coup: Police disperse protesters as country’s UN ambassador calls for action” – below is their description.
Myanmar police dispersed protesters in Yangon on Friday as demonstrations continued to take place across the country, with police banging their shields and even firing shots, sending people fleeing.
Even with the heavy police presence, however, people still gathered to oppose the ongoing military coup. Monks and LGBTQ protesters also joined in the demonstrations in Yangon.
Myanmar’s ambassador to the U.N., Kyaw Moe Tun, speaking for the country’s elected civilian government which was ousted during the coup, spoke before the General Assembly and called on members to “use any means necessary to take action” to restore democracy to the country.
