A 16-day-old male hamadryas baboon, who has found a friend in a stuffed toy version of his species, will be hand-reared by keepers at the Mysore Zoo, as shown by footage filmed on Wednesday.
The little primate was abandoned by its mother shortly after birth. Chief vet at the zoo Dr. Ramesh explained that it is the first time Mysore Zoo staff will be hand-rearing a baboon.
