More than one hundred migrants cross the English channel in small boats

Border Force patrol vessels and local lifeboats have been involved in the rescue of more than 100 migrants in small boats in the English Channel.

At least seven rubber dinghies and a kayak were towed into Dover harbour.

An inquiry has been launched by the Commons home affairs select committee, which wants to scrutinise the role of “criminal gangs” and the UK and French government’s response to the issue.
