In response to coronavirus, the government moved quickly to restricted visitors to aged care homes. But there are now infections of 41 residents and workers at 17 facilities around the country – figures which may explain why so many nursing homes have gone into total lockdown. While many families and health professionals agree a lockdown is necessary, there are others who want exemptions made for residents with dementia who need special attention.
