DW News published this video item, entitled “More than 700 killed since Myanmar’s military coup in February | DW News” – below is their description.
The European Union is reportedly planning to sanction ten individuals and two companies connected to the military regime in Myanmar. According to news agency Reuters, the sanctions could come into effect by next week.
The sanctions come amid a warning from the UN Human Rights Chief who said the situation in the country could be spiraling to a ‘full-blown’ Syria style conflict. More than 700 people have been killed since the military took power in a coup in February. And since then its crackdown on pro-democracy protesters has only grown stronger.
