    India is hurtling towards a coronavirus catastrophe. In the last 24 hours more the 200, 000 new cases have been recorded for the first time -taking the country’s total case load to 14.1 million. There were also more than a thousand deaths in one day. The country’s fragile health system can’t cope – there are severe shortages of beds and oxygen. The government has blamed this massive second wave of infections on a widespread failure to wear masks or adhere to physical distancing. Stevie Zhang reports.
