China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian left a huge silence after a question from a Reuters journalist over recent anti-Covid lockdown protests in the country.

Mr Lijan was asked whether China would “reconsider” their strong stance on tackling the virus, which was met with an awkward pause before asking the reporter to repeat his question.
