During the dialogue with Prof. Daron Acemoglu, 2005 John Clark medalist from MIT and Prof. Lu Feng from Peking University with CGTN Anchor Kate Kui, Acemoglu pointed out that the inclusive development of the U.S. is always undergirded by a Faustian-bargain due to its historical roots, especially during the period of Southern plantation economy and slavery. Its performance during the pandemic as a nation state was disappointing, and without a doubt, China was extremely successful in containing the pandemic even before the vaccine out available.
