The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Mike Pence: ‘China is to blame for the coronavirus and President Trump is not happy about it'” – below is their description.
On the subject of the China trade war at the Vice-presidential debate, Mike Pence made a clear and firm statement: “China is to blame for the coronavirus”. “China and the World Health Organization did not play straight with the American people,” he said. Pence also commended Trump’s decision to shut off travel from China, saying the decision bought invaluable time to coordinate the country’s response to the pandemic. Though it did restrict some travel from China, tens of thousands were still allowed to pour into the country. The comments the Vice President made were echoes of Trump’s consistent viewpoint since the outbreak in Wuhan, China, at the start of the year. The President has claimed to have seen evidence linking a Wuhan disease research laboratory to the coronavirus pandemic – a theory many scientists see as unlikely. The president has also said: “I think they made a horrible mistake and they didn’t want to admit it. US-Chinese relations have been strained as of late. Back in May, the US President said he would cancel the agreement struck after lengthy negotiations if China failed to buy an additional $200bn (£161bn) of American goods and services over the next two years as tensions rise about the origins of the coronavirus outbreak. He said: “If they don’t buy, we’ll terminate the deal. Very simple.” Read the full round-up of the Vice-presidential debate here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/10/07/vice-presidential-debate-live-kamala-harris-mike-pence-latest/ Subscribe to The Telegraph on YouTube ► https://bit.ly/3idrdLH
