“It’s so paternalistic. It’s so #colonial, it’s so racist that the #Israelis and the #Americans want to decide the future. Now, there has to be some reference point. You cannot write the Trump plan in Tel Aviv and have it read in Washington and say ‘Why don’t you accept it’. Let’s accept something that we all agree to… the UN, Russia, the EU. Let’s find a partner, including the Americans, that everybody agrees to.
So that’s clearly not going to work. The Israelis are powerful. They have the guns, they have the power and what happened after World War 2 was very clear. The world said nobody can take someone else’s land by force and war. You have to negotiate. It could take 50 or 100 years but you have to negotiate. But when you do it unilaterally, you remove the right of each side to negotiate. Now, Palestinians are not against annexation, they are against unilateral annexation. You want to have negotiations, let’s agree on the basis. But you cannot tell us the only basis is the Trump plan which was written in Tel Aviv. That’s not fair.”
