Three students were killed and eight people injured when a 15-year-old pupil opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun at a high school near Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday.

One of those wounded was a teacher and the rest were students at Oxford High School in Oxford Township, a community of about 22,000 people roughly 30 miles north of Detroit.

Two of the wounded were in surgery and six were in a stable condition.
