Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday addressed the arrests of six men who had been arrested in connection to an alleged plot to kidnap her, saying she was appreciative of law enforcement for pursuing criminal charges. The FBI were also involved in the investigation. She also said that President Donald Trump was “complicit” in fuelling extremists, saying hate groups reacted to the president’s words during the first presidential debate, including where he told a group to “stand back and stand by.” In addition to the arrests of the six men, the state’s attorney general also announced preliminary charges against seven addition people under the state’s Anti-Terrorism Act.
