Mexico is commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire.
Many are choosing to honour those who defended their land, and celebrate the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan that is believed to have been founded 200 years before Europeans arrived.
Al Jazeera’s Manuel Rapalo reports from the Mexican capital.
