A fifth of the Australian population is back under strict lockdown this morning, with stage three restrictions now in place across Melbourne and a regional council to its north.
The military has been brought in to help control movement in and out of the locked-down areas.
There were 134 new coronavirus cases in Victoria yesterday, with aged care homes and several hospitals also recording infections among staff.
