The 2016 Scrabble championships was held in Lille, France and a new world champion has been crowned.
Brett Smitheram, 37, fought off wordsmiths from around the world to claim the title and win over $10,000 in prize money.
Some of Smitheram’s winning words were: Braconid, meaning a parasitic wasp and Periagua, which means a small craft.
