South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Medicine shortage a ‘death sentence’ for Sri Lankan patients caught up in nation’s economic crisis” – below is their description.
A severe shortage of medicines was spreading across Sri Lanka as of May 23, 2022, with doctors saying they fear the crisis could be deadly for some of their patients who otherwise would be saved. The country imports most of its medical supplies, and with foreign currency reserves drying up amid a recent economic crisis the healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. An ongoing fuel shortage has also made it difficult for healthcare workers to go to work.
