McConnell: There’s No Question the Climate Is Changing

Bloomberg QuickTake News published this video item, entitled “McConnell: There’s No Question the Climate Is Changing” – below is their description.

As people in Oregon, Washington state and California have been struggling for a week or longer under some of the most unhealthy air on the planet, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he doesn’t think there’s “any question the climate is changing.” An extraordinarily busy hurricane season – along with the catastrophic wildfire season on the West Coast – has focused attention on the role of climate change. Scientists say global warming is making the strongest of hurricanes, those with wind speeds of 110 mph or more, even stronger. Yet McConnell’s comments are in stark contranst from President Donald Trump’s remarks in Sacramento this week. Asked about the criminal investigation into the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor, McConnell, who represents Kentucky, told reporters Tuesday “the investigation seems to have been more complicated than a lot of people felt.” He said he has confidence in the state’s attorney general, Daniel Cameronand stands by him. The city of Louisville will pay $12 million to the family of Breonna Taylor and reform police practices as part of a lawsuit settlement months after Taylor’s slaying by police thrust the Black woman’s name to the forefront of a national reckoning on race, Mayor Greg Fischer announced Tuesday.
