Police and demonstrators clashed in Berlin, as thousands of people joined traditional May Day protests across France on Saturday, gathering despite COVID-19 restrictions. People gathered to demand social and economic justice.
In France, protestors also aimed to voice their opposition to government plans to change unemployment benefits.
Berlin has for decades seen May Day clashes which in some years turned into violent street battles.
