Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party has everything to celebrate after winning its largest ever representation in the lower house.

Meanwhile, President Macron’s centrist Ensemble alliance was short of the 288 needed for an absolute majority. A left-wing coalition of socialists and greens was the second biggest alliance after the final round of voting.

The election result means France is left with a hung parliament.
