Scotland’s First Minister has defended the ban on non-essential travel between Scotland and Greater Manchester, in a growing row with the region’s mayor.

Andy Burnham has accused the Scottish government of hypocrisy, saying it came out of the blue and was “completely disproportionate”.

Nicola Sturgeon said she was just doing what was needed to keep Scotland safe, and accused Mr Burnham of playing politics.
