Muslims in Southeast Asia are observing the first day of Ramadan.
In Indonesia and Malaysia it is expected to be more lively compared to last year’s sombre affair.
Both countries have eased some coronavirus restrictions, to allow prayers in mosques, as well as opening markets.
Al Jazeera’s Florence Looi reports from Kuala Lumpur.
