  1. A cull of magpies – this is ridiculous! Of course there are more incidents – people are in lockdown, with thousands more walking around during the day when other years they would have been in the office or at school. These animals are known to be, for a few weeks, overly protective of their territory when spring comes and their hormones kick in to change their temperament to attempt to challenge a speeding double decker bus …. Just a few weeks later when the mating season kicks off they return to their normal inquisitive, interesting, intelligent selves. But no, they are dangerous – kill, kill, kill …. really ….. The aggression is short term, death is a long time – is this REALLY fair? Should the new bumper sticker read: “save wildlife – end the lock-down, “? People living out bush read about this in disbelief – overseas they are just shaking their heads in pity – we have a magical environment, yet we MUST keep changing it at all costs …. My understanding is that most fatal accidents occur in the home – yet we don’t burn them down, motorists accidentally collide with pedestrians, yet they do not face the firing squad at dawn – but them dang magpies – we’ll teach ’em not to mess with us! Very limited thought seems to have gone into this decision – unfortunately.
