CNBC’s Deirdre Bosa spoke with Lyft president and co-founder John Zimmer about the decision to sell the company’s self-driving car division to Toyota for $550M, achieving profitability and his outlook for the company.

In this interview, Zimmer, sitting in an empty loft space, told how Lyft has been “building out a tech enabled fleet management business for years” in the autonomous vehicle space.

He also spoke about the importance of becoming profitable in the near future “for the long term value” – and, he said, this year would be the year.
