South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Lunar New Year in China: Locals celebrate the start of the Year of the Ox” – below is their description.
A week of Lunar New Year celebrations across China began on February 11, 2021, although the official start of the festive holiday is the next day. From traditional dance performances to family dinners, locals welcomed in the Year of the Ox. Millions of Chinese return to their hometowns to reunite with their families in the world’s biggest annual human migration. But this year, as the country remains cautious amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has strongly discouraged long journeys during the new-year period. Many cities are requiring multiple negative Covid-19 test results for visitors, both before and after their arrival.
