Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Louisville to pay $12m to Breonna Taylor’s mother, reform police” – below is their description.
The US city of Louisville is to pay Breonna Taylor’s family $12m in compensation for her death. The 26-year-old Black woman was repeatedly shot by police when they forced their way into her apartment. The settlement will be accompanied by reforms in the city’s police department. Taylor’s family lawyer calls it a “landmark step on the journey to justice”, but he is not backing down from his demand that Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron brings charges immediately against police officers who killed her. Al Jazeera’s Mike Hanna reports from Washington, DC. –
