Sky News published this video item, entitled “London Bridge attack: Met Police ‘so deeply sorry'” – below is their description.
Assistant Commissioner for the Metropolitan Police, Neil Basu, has extended his deepest sympathies to the families of Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt who were killed during the London Bridge attack in 2019.
A jury at the Guildhall ruled that Usman Khan “unlawfully killed” the two Cambridge graduates at the rehabilitation event at Fishmongers’ Hall in London.
Mr Basu says since the tragic event, the Ministry of Justice has “strengthened prison and probation services” and a “far stronger national offender management model” has been introduced in policing, which will better protect the public from terrorist offenders.
