CGTN published this video item, entitled “Live: World’s highest wooden pagoda tilted but faces repair difficulty” – below is their description.
The Sakyamuni Pagoda, in the Yingxian County in north China’s Shanxi Province, is the oldest and highest wooden pagoda in the world. It’s known for its architectural distinction – the entire structure was put together with mortise and tenon joints, without using a single nail.
Over the past 1,000 years, the pagoda miraculously withstood wars, earthquakes, rain and winds. But unfortunately, it started to lean decades ago and is now in urgent need of repair, which has remained as a mission impossible challenging experts across the country. Follow CGTN’s Hu Chao to take a look of this miracle pagoda.
