Despite calls for a ceasefire from the international community, the most severe outbreak of clashes between Israelis and Palestinians since 2014 shows no sign of abating. Israel continues to bombard Gaza with airstrikes while Palestinian militants continue their cross-border rocket attacks. More than 200 people have died in Israel and the Gaza Strip over eight days of conflict between Israel and Hamas militants.
