CGTN published this video item, entitled “Live: Debut of China’s earliest bronze Buddhist statues” – below is their description.
Two of China’s oldest gold-plated, bronze sculptures of Buddhas were discovered by archaeologists in 2021 in Chengren Village of Xianyang City, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province. The statues are believed to have been made in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), witnessing how the silk road facilitated the civilizational interaction between the east and the west. This live show gives you an all-round explanation of the statue’s manufacturing technology, characteristics, its historical importance and protection work from Hanyang Tomb Museum.
