Lionel Richie snubs duet with Lewis Hamilton

CNN’s Amanda Davies speaks with the music legend about his family, incredible career and friendship with President-elect Donald Trump, ahead of the Formula 1 2016 World Championship decider in Abu Dhabi.

CNN: Wimbledon or F1?

Richie: FL. That’s hard. That’s so hard! Because I do like Wimbledon.

CNN: Pub or swanky bar?

Richie: Pub!

CNN: Would you ever do a duet with Lewis [Hamilton]

Richie: Well I have dear friends of mine who are tennis players and I used to say “you know what, you play tennis and I’ll do the singing,” so I’ll say the same thing to Lewis.

CNN: Rihanna or Taylor Swift?

Richie: Ri-Ri. You’ve got me in so much trouble!

CNN: Facebook or Instagram?

Richie: Instagram!

CNN: What is it you like about Instagram?

Richie: My kids expose me every second of the day. Every time I see them in the hallway at my house, I have to be prepared or camera ready!

CNN: Michelle Obama or Melania Trump

Richie: Micha. I love her!

CNN: You have performed to 100s of thousands of people on stage singing. How does that compare to driving a Formula 1 car on the title deciding weekend?

Richie: The adrenaline rush is the adrenaline rush. Its something about 1,2,3 lights go off. Show starts. And you’re transformed into the adrenaline forever. The endorphins hit. And they talk you into a great day!

CNN: Which is the song that you get the biggest buzz out of performing?

Richie: To this day, All Night Long is still… oh my God. And the one that I don’t sing at all, anymore, probably, is Hello: the crowd takes over!

The interview continues.
