A flame lighting event for the Paralympic torch relay took place at the National Training Centre J-Village in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The facility symbolizes the recovery of the prefecture after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. The residents of the Hamadori region brought together the flames they collected each in an individual manner.
