Seven journalists had their homes turned upside down by security agents, as Latvia’s security services opened a criminal investigation into those working for the Baltnews and RT-affiliated Sputnik news agencies. Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman denounced the actions, saying Latvia’s prosecution of the journalists threatens fundamental values, including free speech.
