Dozens of houses were hit by landslides in towns surrounding Lake Como on Tuesday, after heavy rainfall pounded the popular tourist destination.
Rocks and mud descended from the mountains to the towns, submerging houses and villas in debris in the towns of Laglio, Cernobbio and Brienno.
The bad weather comes after a weekend of fires and hot weather in the south of Italy that were particularly devastating on the island of Sardinia.
