The Telegraph published this video item, entitled “Labour granted urgent question on Nadhim Zahawi tax affairs row at 3.30pm” – below is their description.
The House of Commons sits from 2.30pm today. Angela Rayner, the deputy leader of the Labour Party, has been granted an urgent question on the Nadhim Zahawi row. It should probably start just before 4pm.
Rishi Sunak has asked his independent ethics adviser to look into the tax affairs of Nadhim Zahawi, as “clearly in this case there are questions that need answering”.
The Prime Minister said that Mr Zahawi will continue to serve as chairman of the Conservative Party while the probe is conducted.
Mr Zahawi welcomed the matter being referred to Sir Laurie Magnus and his team and said in a statement: “I am confident I acted properly throughout and look forward to answering any and all specific questions in a formal setting to Sir Laurie.”
There are growing calls for Mr Sunak to sack Mr Zahawi, with Labour claiming the latter’s position is “totally untenable”.
