Spain’s La Palma volcano spewed glowing lava that lit up the night sky in the early hours of Sunday.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano has been erupting for nearly 50 days, destroying almost 1,000 hectares of land and more than 2,500 properties on the Atlantic Ocean island.

A spokesperson for the scientific committee of the Canary Islands Volcanic Emergency Plan (Pevolca), Carmen Lopez, said on Saturday there is no data showing the eruption will end soon.
