Global News published this video item, entitled “La Palma volcano eruption: Crisis not over until island rebuilt, says Spain’s prime minister” – below is their description.
A river of lava from Spain’s La Palma volcano flowed toward the Atlantic Ocean on the third day of eruption.
Experts say that if and when the lava reaches the sea, it could trigger more explosions and clouds of toxic gases.
No fatalities or injuries have been reported.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez gave an update on the eruption on Tuesday, saying the crisis isn’t over until La Palma is rebuilt.
The prime minister’s comments came as families rushed to retrieve belongings from their homes and escape the advancing lava, as sirens sounded and helicopters flew overhead in air filled with smoke from the erupting volcano.
The volcano started erupting on Sunday, shooting lava hundreds of metres into the air after La Palma, the most northwestern island in the Canaries archipelago, had been rocked by thousands of quakes in the prior days.
