Drone footage showed white clouds billowing out of the water as the red-hot lava from the erupting Cumbre Vieja volcano slid down a cliff into the Atlantic ocean, creating a new delta on the Spanish island of La Palma.

Local authorities noted jets of lava and other pyroclastic material thrust from the volcano on Tuesday.

According to the Copernicus disaster monitoring program, lava flows from Cumbre Vieja volcano have damaged or destroyed some 2,650 buildings since its initial eruption on Sept. 19.
