Polls in Kyrgyzstan’s constitutional referendum have now closed.

People there have been voting on proposed changes to the constitution that could see President Sadyr Japarov expand his powers.

Critics say the referendum is Japarov’s attempt to impose a more authoritarian form of rule.

Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford reports from Bishkek, the Kyrgyz capital.
