14 people have been arrested following a wild brawl on a train that was travelling between Lidcombe and Strathfield on Australia Day.
One man was stabbed during the incident – and police say he was lucky he didn’t die.
Police say that five men – all aged 18 – and nine youths – aged between 15 and 17 – were arrested and taken to Burwood and Auburn Police Stations.
A 17-year-old Marsden Park boy was charged with reckless wounding in company, would person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, reckless grievous bodily harm in company and two counts of affray.
The five 18-year-old men and eight juveniles – aged 15, three aged 16 and four aged 17 – were all charged with two counts of affray. A 16-year-old youth from Willmot was also charged with custody of knife in a public place.
Three of the 18-year-olds from Guildford, St Marys and Tregear have been refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 27 January 2021).
The 17-year-old Marsden Park boy and three other teens – including a 15-year-old from Stanhope Gardens, a 16-year-old from Kellyville and a 17-year-old from South Wentworthville were refused bail to appear at Surry Hills Children’s Court today (Wednesday 27 January 2021).
The 16-year-old Wilmot youth was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday 3 February 2021.
A 16-year-old Toongabbie youth and a 17-year-old Blacktown youth were granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 8 February 2021.
Two 17-year-olds from Colyton and Marayong were granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 9 February 2021.
Two 18-year-old men from Marayong and Mount Druitt were granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 15 February 2021.
