King Charles III in his declaration speech on Saturday said that he is “deeply aware” of his role and the “deepest responsibilities of sovereignty which have passed to me”. 

He said that he will “strive to follow the inspiring example I have been set in upholding constitutional government and to seek the the peace, harmony and prosperity of the peoples of these islands and the Commonwealth realms and territories around the world”.

The King added that he thanks his “beloved wife” for her “constant support”.
