The dangers of reporting from a conflict zone were made alarming clear today in the Middle East.
A journalist working for the Qatar-based television news network Al Jazeera was shot in the head, as she covered an Israeli raid on a refugee camp on the West Bank.
Shireen Abu Akleh, was taken to hospital but she couldn’t be saved. The United Nations has called for an inquiry into her shooting.
Her producer colleague who was badly injured said she’d been targeted by an Israeli army sniper, despite wearing a flak jacket marked “Press”.
