The girlfriend of one of the men killed while protesting the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is calling him a hero.
Anthony Huber, 26, reportedly pushed his girlfriend, Hannah Gittings, into an alley and then tried to disarm 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse.
He allegedly went to grab the gun out of his hand but was shot fatally.
“He knew the potential consequences of his actions and he was prepared to die so that other people wouldn’t,” said Gittings.
On Friday, an Illinois judge postponed a decision on whether Rittenhouse should be returned to Wisconsin to face charges in the killing of two people on the streets of Kenosha during the unrest.
Illinois granted Rittenhouse’s request to delay the extradition hearing to Sept. 25 during a brief hearing Friday that was streamed online. Rittenhouse did not appear.
Blake’s shooting has left him paralysed.
It sparked several nights of protests in Kenosha, making it the latest focal point in the injustices faced by racial discrimination.
