Guardian News published this video item, entitled “‘Kill the bill’: thousands march through London in protest against new policing bill” – below is their description.
Thousands have marched through central London to protest against the new proposed police, crime, sentencing and courts bill.
After gathering in Trafalgar Square from midday, protesters marched past Buckingham Palace then through Victoria, past the Department for Education and the Home Office, and finally across the river to Vauxhall Gardens.
A number of social movements, including Extinction Rebellion and the Black Lives Matter movement, had united to protest against the bill, which critics say would place significant curbs on freedom of speech and assembly, by giving police powers to curb protests, among other measures.
Today’s action in the capital was the biggest protest under the ‘kill the bill’ banner to have taken place so far. Since the proposed law was brought before parliament last month, there have been sporadic demonstrations across the country, with Saturday’s rallies being part of what organisers said was a national weekend of action.
