0:54 Kenya‘s electoral commission chairman has declared Deputy President William Ruto the winner of the tight presidential election over five-time contender Raila Odinga.
But chaos emerged just before the declaration when some senior election officials disowned the result, saying they could not support the “opaque nature” of the final phase.
Scuffles then erupted at the announcement of Kenya’s presidential election results as supporters of opposition leader Odinga stormed the stage and clashed with soldiers.
Now Kenyans wait to see whether Odinga will again go to court to contest the results of Tuesday’s peaceful election in a country crucial to regional stability.
