Global News published this video item, entitled “Kentucky floods: Heavy rain pours over southern US, littering streets with debris” – below is their description.
Heavy rain caused flooding in western Kentucky as a storm hit the region on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS warned people to “avoid driving through flooded [or] closed roads” in Louisville, Ky., and the surrounding area as severe thunderstorms moved across the southern U.S.
Video posted to Twitter and online platforms showed vehicles splashing floodwater on West Main Street in Lexington as well as debris, such as a hay bale and trash can, rushing through floodwater after heavy rains in Fisherville.
The NWS said that the “widespread showers and thunderstorms” would continue until midday Tuesday in “portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky and southeast Missouri.”
