Residents and farmers on fire-ravaged Kangaroo Island in South Australia are starting to comprehend the scale of the destruction experience there.

There are tributes for the two well-known men who lost their lives, while for a lucky few, remarkable stories of survival are emerging.

The ABC’s Claire Campbell was one of the first reporters to reach the island.
