South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “K-pop school in South Korean capital helps young artists chase dreams of being international idols” – below is their description.
Korean popular music, also known as K-pop, has gained a worldwide following – not only among fans, but also the aspiring musicians hoping for a chance to shine on stage. Every year, thousands of young people apply to the Acopia school in the South Korean capital Seoul, for one of about 500 places in the programme that offers training including preparation for auditions with record labels searching for the next K-pop sensations. Students spend about US$3,000 a month for tuition, room and board. The performance coursework at Acopia is also supplemented with lessons in Korean culture, since many of the applicants are from overseas. Support us: https://subscribe.scmp.com
